In strings kindergarten has been working on holding practice violins.
First grade is working on plucking the strings or pizzicato and second
grade is playing on real violins and bows! Way to go everyone!
After reviewing their classroom rules, Mrs. Kibby's second grade students decided that they needed to write their own class promise. They wrote it together and then they drew pictures to match. The students plan on repeating their promise daily!
In speech-language sessions, some students are learning to name items by their description and answer "where" questions.

Miss Stryker's 1st grade class is hard at work practicing their sight words in engaging and creative ways! Writing their words in shaving cream was a fun and silly activity that brought a lot of smiles and laughter to the classroom.
Students in Mrs. Kibby's Kindergarten class are activating their Super Powers, and becoming even stronger readers by using their pointer power!

Students have been busy in the music room! Students in kindergarten and first grade have been exploring some of the different drums. Preschool students were busy playing the bells to "Jingle Bells." Second graders have been busy composing on their ipads!
Gobble Gobble! Miss Ferreri's kindergarten class has been busy this month disguising turkeys for Thanksgiving, dreaming of Thanksgiving feasts and discussing what we are most thankful for. We are so thankful for our wonderful school community and our classroom "family!" We hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving!
Fun was had by all at Kelly Lane today at our First Annual Turkey Trot! Even though it was a little chilly the students loved running to earn their feathers. Thanks a bunch Ms. K for doing such a great job organizing this for our students. . . they loved it!!
The students have been working hard on completing an obstacle course in PE. They have been jumping, rolling, crawling, climbing, and running their way through the obstacles. Their favorite part of the course is when they can jump on the spring board and land on the giant crash matt!
Mrs. Diemer's second graders ordered three digit numbers! What real world connection to ordering numbers can you make? Video games, siblings' ages and organizing our Uno cards were our examples!
Second graders had a special lab this week in science, they built lego river bends to design and test ways to stop water from flowing.
Kindergartners in Mrs. Curley’s class are playing roll and record to practice counting, number recognition and number writing. They also love buddy reading each day!
We had a fabulous time at our Character Day parade this week!

In the resource room, students are practicing their skills in various hands on ways—moving Velcro pieces, playing “follow the path” games or turning just about anything into a whiteboard/marker activity!
In Miss Porter's preschool classroom, students are learning about pumpkins! They are working on fine motor activities including painting with a Q Tip and a shape activity using pumpkins to supplement their learning.
Ms. Costas' second grade class is enjoying a special visit from Indian Rock! Students are learning about the tools, foods and the culture of Connecticut’s early Native Americans. They are using hands-on examination of reproduction artifacts and storytelling to bring to life our first native inhabitants.

the Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut, based at Indian
Rock Nature Preserve in Bristol, CT. Today's visits to all second
grade classrooms was made possible through a mini-grant by the Granby
Education Foundation.
